Join us May 7th for an evening with Jonathan Brown. We'll kick the evening off with a round of open mic and close the evening with a round of open mic, in between. Jonathan Brown will return to our stage for the first time since 2018.
Jonathan Brown is a poet, musician, and digital creator based out of New Orleans, LA. A former high school teacher, Jonathan hit the road in 2015 as a performer, offering over 150 shows per year for four and a half years. His albums include Roses on a Good Day (2015); Aggressively Vulnerable (2018); and Shadows of Raindrops (2020). His new multi-media music project, You Are The Truth. Let Your Eyes Adjust is scheduled for release in the spring of 2023 on a creamsicle swirl orange and yellow vinyl.
Jonathan holds a BA from the College of Charleston; an MA from the New College of California; and an MFA from The University of New Orleans. His work has been published in The Worcester Review, The Nashville Review, and National Public Radio (NPR). Jonathan Brown exists. He is a person in a town much like other people in other towns. It’s not that he’s not special; he is. But we all are. That’s the thing. We all have something to share, to add, to contribute. We all have the capacity to ease the world’s suffering in some way. He’s basically the softest rapper you’ve ever heard, softer than cinnamon rolls. He enjoys wearing tracksuits even if he never leaves the house that day, especially if he never leaves the house that day because that gives the tracksuit itself the opportunity to really wear him. He then becomes one with the tracksuit.
